Mr. Bill Satterwhite was the founder of the Bluebirders of Wake County.

  • Bluebird education was Bill’s passion for 30 + years.
  • To his friends and fellow Bluebirders, he was known as “The Bluebird Man” of Wake County, North Carolina.
  • Bill was instrumental in establishing numerous Bluebird trails in the Raleigh area, such as:
    • 16 boxes Historic Oak View Country Park in 1993
    • 18 boxes JC Raulston Arboretum in 1994
    • 25 boxes Wil-Mar Golf Course in 1994
    • 17 boxes Lake Crabtree Creek County Park in 1996
    • 17 boxes Oakwood Cemetery in 1998
    • 7 boxes Mordecai Historic Park
    • A number of boxes at Lonnie Poole Golf Course on NCState Campus since 1992

Mr. Bill passed away in May 2022 at the age of 102. He was still helping with bluebirds as long as he could … monitoring nest boxes in April of 2022 with his daughter, Billie Jeanne.
