February 2013

  • Our February 10, 2013 speaker was our own Robert Wolk.
  • Bob is on the North Carolina Bluebird Society Board of Directors and serves as the Recording Secretary.

Bob retired from the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences where he served as Director of Programs. Prior to that he was director of several museums. He did research on the Anatomy and Behavior of Birds.

Bob’s presentation at our club, Bird Vision: a bird’s-eye view of birds’ eyes, is summarized below:

Humans and birds are visual creatures. That is one reason we like to watch birds. An important difference is that birds, with a few interesting exceptions, see much better than we do. Discussion about how they accomplish this was the basis of the presentation.
